When asked about “Yam Suf”, the average Jew, even learned Rabbis, scholars and the “Chumash” (English translation of the Old Testament) found in orthodox synagogues, probably define the Hebrew words as “Reed Sea”. Considering sixteen centuries of belief by dominant Christianity that Mount Sinai is in lower Sinai Peninsula, that is not surprising. Per the Bible, the fleeing Israelites crossed Yam Suf before reaching Mt. Sinai, therefore the only candidate bodies of water would be the shallow Bitter Lakes or the tip of the Gulf of Suez – “Sea of Reeds” thus becomes a common-sense definition for “Yam Suf”. I have shown in this series of articles that there are several pieces of evidence that the Persian Empire did not last the 200 years proposed by historians but only 21 years as described in the Old Testament.
